Every Child Matters – Honouring Indigenous Communities

At Taa, we believe in the power of language to build bridges, connect communities, and foster understanding. Our new Every Child Matters design is created in recognition of National Truth and Reconciliation Day, a day to reflect on the impact of residential schools on Indigenous communities across Canada. This design features the message “Every Child Matters” written in both English and Arabic (‘كل طفل يهم’). It symbolizes a commitment to reconciliation and healing.

The interwoven Arabic calligraphy, created by Kuasa Aksara, merges seamlessly with the English text, visually representing the coexistence and connection between cultures and languages. The bold orange background pays tribute to Orange Shirt Day, while the additional colours—White, Black, Yellow, and Red—reflect the medicine wheel, a sacred symbol of balance and harmony in many Indigenous cultures.

This collection, which includes t-shirts, tote bags, pin-back buttons, stickers, and refrigerator magnets, is an original Taa design licensed by the Orange Shirt Society, the official trademark holder of ‘Every Child Matters’. All proceeds from the sale of these products will go directly to the Orange Shirt Society to support its ongoing work in reconciliation, education, and cultural preservation.

Wear or display this design year-round to honour Indigenous communities, celebrate language diversity, and contribute to the conversation of reconciliation.
